Off the Page

I am blank
You might overlook me
Suspended in black ink

Into a permanent mark
That trails my storybook's main character
Like invisible ink

I am scratched out
Thoughts meander from straight lines
To be rewritten into a dot

Carrying my body of work
Searching for meaning...for a new start
Diving deep into thought like a shark tank

Never to rhyme
My opinion pales in the face of what they think
Like a mime

Am I...is this my aim?
To rote my existence off the page
Until my pen’s dream...
