Off Beat

I never imagined this day would come
Our love was like the steady beat of a drum
At the sound of your words my body went numb
Without you look at what I've become

Lifes hard when you live it alone
It seems like for heartache I am prone
I believed all the love you had shown
Now look at me, here on my own

For you to love me was my only plea
Yet it wasn't enough for you to stay with me
You claimed you were setting me free
But I'm left with a heartache to the 3rd degree

I'm not sure I know where to begin
But I know the answer lies within
I'm playing a game that's impossible to win
If only things were like they should've been
