Of Trophies and Poetry

No reason to impress others.... They don't care a rip! It is their trophy they want to win. As if that was what was poetry was all about. Simply to impress, and block all others out? You tell me! I am at a loss..........why not help other poets, rather than you be so boss! I don't want to run a contest~no, not me. I can't see myself with such masterful talentry! I know the competition games do flourish. I'd rather help another poet-friend to grow and nourish. A friend I'd prefer, by comments and mail. Like two smiling bunnies under a shady tree. In satisfaction,thumping their fluffy tails, In happiness learning poetry not getting all the glory be! 11- 15 - 2020

Hellopanagiota, yes poetry should be written with the heart, A need to write not to gloat to be a winner. We are all poets. We do not have to enter a contest if we do not want to. Hugs Darlene xxxx-oooo.

Hello Panagiota, yes poetry is words on paper. We write because it is in us to write. i consider myself a poet. I also write poetry for my far away friends. I say to my friends I create poetry. Hugs Darlene xxxx-oooo.

Gloating is obnoxious. And words on paper don't make up poets....do they? I can get kids paint and make a picture. So? Does that make me an artist? Some of my poems are poems.Thers insignificant words on paper is how I see them. I say I write poetry but have never said to friends...I am a poet. Contests great for others. Hardly..me..a poet? 11/17

They give you ideas that maybe you hadn't thought of and should be treated as a bit of fun but I've heard of some soup mailing sponsors saying to place them at the top and that they'd do likewise. If you cant stand losing or being n/a, d then dont enter. My view is I'd rather see a panel of judges not just one. Tom

Sweet write. I like the contests because they inspire new ideas and sometimes encourage me to use a new style.

No doubt they are popular. Thanks for not beating me up. ouchhavent been in a contest for awhile. It's not a requirement. I noticed the comments part was glossed over. Too bad.
