Of Snaggled Toe
of snaggled toe
ten ragged nails,
her bedtime woe
his humor fails,
oh, feet of ice!
oh, careless sleep!
oh, what fell price
for cruel Morpheus's leap?
to kick, a shove
betwixt linen's divide,
sore test of love
for this jaded dusky bride,
unspoken ire
with mantle clutched,
eye dark pools of fire
on pillows crutched,
sunset duel fought fair
with unmoved snoring grouch,
with lumbered glare
retired to hushed and waiting couch.
