Of Grief and Pain

Grief I have known little of. It’s not as if I ever lost my one true love. One brother taken in his prime saddened us, and yet I know we’ll see him in good time My father - two years ago - passed away, but a stranger was he to me. Grief too difficult I’ve yet to know. Yes, great grief I think has yet to be my bane. I’m compensated physically instead with chronic pain! April 23, 2021 (thanks for the reflection you had us do on grief) For Line Gauthier's Grief In 12 Lines Or Less Poetry Contest

Oh dear, there can never be a compensation for grief.... It is not ideal to have a fair share of such pain... Sorry for your chronic pain, I hope it is not worse than one which comes with aging. Well written poem my good friend.

This to me is indeed a beautiful and true expression of life, death and humanity as it exists, complete with the ever present grief that is a very sad part of our existence my friend. Good luck in the contest. Definitely a very fine fav. God bles.

Hi Andrea, What a good take on grief. As far as grief goes, I echo what L. Milton said. I’ve experienced grief several times in my life But losing my dad hit me the hardest. I haven't fully recovered from that one. Best wishes in the contest. Have a good evening- Alexis

Andrea, 'Of Grief and Pain' - Feel as though gravity is greater in some individual's lives. I know broken ones that could fill a bathtub with tears.., should the cloudburst choose to come. -Richard

Great words. Chronic pain is hard to endure, when it’s endless. Have you ever owned a dog to share your burden ? The only problem is, when your dog passes on , then you know true grief, which will remain as an aching void ,with you forever.

I have lost a few very dear pets, and I was heartsick over it, but I recover quickly from grief. Wishing now I had a cat but my husband just wants the dog!

You're lucky up to a point. I lost many relatives along the way. As for aches, best not mentioned.

I am starting to lose relatives. It's sad because I left them back in Iowa to go to college and when they are not in your life any more, it's like they are almost dead anyway. I think hard grief comes from always having special people around us. Then when they are gone, the void must be very great!

Nice writing, Andrea. I think you've known sadness, but were quick to recover. Once we are over grief it's a bit hard to dredge it up...if we want to.

I must be different than most people. I just feel that those who passed on are now in a better place. I think it will hit me hardest if I lose one of my sisters or my mom.
