Of Cabbages and Kings

As all poets will know, there are times

when it's difficult searching for rhymes.

What on earth can rhyme with 'cabbage.'

apart from 'ravage' and 'savage'?

Hmm, I dimly recall the name 'Babbage.'

Charles Babbage, I think, was a boffin

Pah! This path will lead to the coffin.

Hope undying yet springs.

There's much more that rhymes with 'kings'

with words such as 'brings,' 'sings' and 'wings,'

among other interesting things

So now is the time to toil

in the realm of much that is royal.

Most modern poetry does not rhyme - I usually don't. I find your piece amusing! A poet it might be said must look deep inside his head. There is a rhyming line! Peace & Love Matthew Anish
