Notes About The Poem

My daughter is really into conspiracy theories and I am starting to think she makes a lot of sense! Forgive the doom and gloom. I am still trying to be optimistic, but from the form given for this challenge, my theme just  unfolded  this way!

Minuanetta
Invented by Gregory R Barden it's comprised of at least six stanzas, each stanza consistent with itself in rhyme, and decreasing in the number of lines with each stanza, with the final stanza created of one line of the rhyme of each stanza, a rhyme scheme of AAAAA, BBBB, CCC, DD, E, ABCDE.

Of At Least One Thing I'M Sure

Unsure our world is now, and folks have fear.
From rules imposed on us we dare not veer.
Some say the days foretold by John the Seer
(when chaos soon will reign) are nearly here.
I dread the horrors that might next appear.

Our govenments are puppets; what they do
is what the “powers that be” tell them to.
Lies today and half-truths are nothing new.
An accident this was? You think that’s true?

It’s my belief this all was by design -
an evil plot to cause the world’s decline.
The masterminds of it are filthy swine!

World domination they wish to procure.
I wouldn’t be surprised they had the cure!

The worst is yet to come, most probably.

All we can do is cling to what is dear:
our friends and family; our freedoms too.
Be watchful; there will be more than one sign.
Be faithful; of at least one thing I’m sure:
The good - one day - from earth’s woes shall be free.

I, too, believe there is something more malicious at work about this virus ... rather than just an accidental disaster! Feels like we are entering a new era ... where people can longer remain lukewarm but must decide which side they stand on. In any case ... I thought this was well written (and interesting form, too ... never heard of it before).

I really hope it's not true, but it makes me feel less alone to realize that you can see what I am talking about. Thanks, Timothy.

Congratulations Andrea, your poem earned "Third Place" in my contest! Due to the technical demands of this form it was a very difficult contest to judge, but your poem caught my eye, well done my friend, Emile.

This is a representative poem on the exclusive issue of the Covid19 we all are concerned about. We all believe likewise. Thank you for sharing, Andrea.

"Trump can NOT be Trusted" seem quite obvious to me but, after telling more than 17,000 documented outright lies, 49% of Americans still believe he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Of course Trump will take TOTAL credit for the survival cheques drawn on your grandchildren - and great grandchildren! Aloha! Rico

as much as I dislike that man, I have been learning some pretty awful things about BOTH sides. Trust no one in the government.

When mistakes are made, create a diversion, which makes you focus on the lie not the truth. We all know politicians can't be trusted. Well written Andrea. Tom

glad you liked this one. I question if I'm cazy, the things I am learning. Things so horrible nobody could even realize it was really true. For example, there are things in Hollywood that are unmentionable they are so horrific. I pray they are not true, but I found very interesting statements made by Mel Gibson and Kaneu Reeves, both guys that probably won't be doing any more films because they put the stuff "out there"
