Of Adam's Rib

The basic human form is female. If there is a "y" chromosome, the fetus "mutates" from the female form in utero to develop into a male human. Thus, if humans were created in the image of God, I maintain that God must be female in nature, not male, which would mean the story of Adam and Eve is backwards. Adam would have been created from Eve's "rib", not the other way around!

Adam, consort, spouse to Eve,
to no other must he cleave.
She, created first of clay,
Adam followed the next day.

Eve, divine, celestial spark,
crowned to rule the patriarch.
Adam, gift to Eve, her mate—
he is hers to subjugate.

If you think me turned around,
you will see where truth is found.
From his rib she could not come.
Female is the primal one.

Adam did not come before,
as is told in script and lore.
Adam's form— altered and flawed;
woman is the shape of God.

Wishful, fanciful thinking, however flawed. The simple interpretation is that "man" at Genesis 1:26 is meant to be understood in the plural, representative of humankind, both male and female, and not Adam specifically. The true God is of course genderless, a Spirit.

Ha I’m delighted I read this one as a follow on from your eclipse poem, man is the self made patriarch of religion, so of course he likes to describe god as male, but hell hath no fury like a goddess scorned, I’m all for equality amongst the sex’s! check out my monoku ‘For international womens day 2024, I posted a few weeks back, no need to comment but you might get a laugh Katharine, cheers David

Yikes. I’m smiling. An insight to contemplate: is God male or female? How about both!

Yes, John, I don't think of God as either male or female, myself. But IF humans were made in God's image, then God would be female in nature. For me, God is really neither male nor female.... but a mysterious source of all in the universe.

God is female in nature, rather than male. She is a mother, not a father. Didn't we always know that women are the "model" of the human being? Men are merely a variation to enable procreation of the species. Women rule! *smile*

We already know that the female is the "model" of the human being. Men are a variation on that basic human form. Yay for Goddess! Thanks for reading and commenting!
