Ode to Music
On staves of five lines and four spaces,
with straight, strong stems and fatted faces,
and though placed at strictest intervals
all are necessary integrals.
Some short, some long, some tied together;
but every tie is not a tether
for their individuality
soon enhances what they all will be.
And while possessing rare qualities
and occasional frivolities,
each note's harmonious volition
helps to complete the composition.
How I admire their ability,
their fluid ease and agility
to work together and get along...
If only life could be like a song.
