Ode To Jamie

I'd never know the joy, they said
To hold, and kiss, and nurture.
But all too soon we did find out
That God had planned my future.

That beautiful baby girl I had
Came to my life a' crying.
She brought so much love to us
To her there was no denying.

The terrible two's, the trying teens,
The years passed by so fast.
I knew she'd grow up, and pull away
Her dependency wouldn't last.

So as I placed her hand in yours,
you quietly changed her name.
My little girl grew up that day.
My life won't be the same.

She'll always be my baby.
Thank God for blessing me.
Although we share her love, you see
She saves big hugs for me.
