Notes About The Poem

Ode to England

Oh to be in England With joys on takeaway When spring has cast magic That glorifies each day. Many seaside places For summer holidays North, east, west and down south A kaleidoscope of stays. Autumn comes, leaves then fall Pretty carpets they lay Beneath the barren trees To feed new growths way. Winters bring on beauty One could not downplay The scenic wonderland That brighten earth's display. England’s many voices Accents in wide array O’er towns and countryside That charm dialogues sway.

Oh, so lovely. I always wished to visit the Motherland, where one of my great grandpa's came from, but guess I never will as I'm getting old. I love your poem!!

Same here, I would love to visit America, but age and my husband’s ill health stand in the way. Thank you BJ… Beryl

The poem moves through the year, highlighting the "magic" of spring. A "kaleidoscope of stays" describes the imagery perfectly.

Thank you Paula, I would have loved to visit your part of the world too. Now it’s out of the question, age and health issues stand in the way of journeys such as that for me and mine. Not for a contest, just for the joy of writing… Have a lovely poetic day… Beryl

England USED to be a wonderful place...not so sure anymore. Enjoyed your poem though, Beryl. Nicely penned! :) john P.s you are so very right about the many differing landscapes and seasonal scenes. England, visually, can be the most beautiful place on Eath at times.

Thank you John, I agree that things have changed, things can never be as they were. Yet there’s still much pleasure to be found, as we go on walk around… Beryl

Thank you Silent One, yes it’s true to say, we can’t rely on the weather that changes day by day. Still there’s beauty to be found, as we walk and look around… Beryl
