Ode To a Hero

As I saw you lying there
My heart fell into despair
I never knew how much I cared
Until I saw you lying there

As the tears befell my eyes
I began to realize
This would be my last goodbye
As the tears befell my eyes

Will you take your place in heaven?
From this world you have been driven
But your memory stays with the living
As you take your place in heaven

I hope you know how much we love you
Only God could come before you
Take these words, we do adore you
I hope you know how much we love you

~dedicated to my grandfather
