October moments

An acorn hides
Beneath a fallen leaf
A squirrel wonders

A church choir sings
A brown bear waddles
The silence of prayer

Autumnal tariffs
The hunt an endless chore
An old fox limps home

October
Shadows the game
A chill win

The naked truth
Whispers to crisp leaves
Feathers in a bird’s nest

You wrote this so smoothly that I didn't even realize that each stanza was a senryu, John. Bravo! ~ Gershon

A quietly evocative sequence of October senryu, moving through hidden life, ritual, predation, weather, and seasonal bareness. The spare three-line forms let each image arrive cleanly, while the shifts from squirrel and bear to fox, shadows, and nest feathers create a gently unsettling autumnal arc.
