October First

October First
By Franklin Price

October first, time's moving on
Just thirty days away,
The gremlins and goblins
Will be coming out to play.

They will be very hungry,
All your candy they will eat.
When they come around on Halloween,
To your house for Trick or Treat

There will be ghosts and Dracula s,
mummies and undead too,
super heroes, pirates,
Star Wars characters for you

Monsters in their mother's arms
Too young to walk about
Toddlers holding daddys' hands
Come to your house and shout

Trick or Treat they sometimes say
May take a prompt or two
Or may be silent as a lamb
When they shove their bag at you

Give them all some candy
That's why Halloween is here
Get ready for the next group
You can hear them drawing near

Most of them are youngsters
With bed times not too late
Must quickly take your candy
And be home in bed by eight
