Notes About The Poem

Image result for pictures of ocean's rhythmic wavesBased on some truth..Missing my husband with whom we had celebrated our 63rd wedding anniversary. He died with laryngeal cancer; after learning he had it, only lived two weeks. We never ever would have thought he would have that as he did not smoke nor drink. He did have acid reflux off and on which had been being treated with a new med that he took everyday but there is also a genetic link to getting it as well.

Ocean's Cadence

The cadence of the ocean's waves Invoke a rhythm that my heart saves Incredibly within brain's caves Ideas for some rhythm's works Are ahead for my muse's perks Capture the total rhythm's soft flow Anchor inward, don't let it go Even in moonlight's sustained glow Ocean's cadence dances around Hold on, don't make one soft sound The cadence of life now waning As ocean in low tide draining Our love on earth was sustaining Without you, it is now dearth With you as wife, I found worth Our whole life seemed to have meaning Connected to God, we were leaning Surrounded by His love gleaning His love gave us love to share With love hard times we could bear God prepared you for your life's work He helped me learn and grow with perk Fulfilling all duties, not shirk In our lives, we learned and grew 'Pon God's love we daily drew The cadence of our lives on earth Has ended without any mirth In heaven, your love is waxing With agape love untaxing

What a lovely composition, Sara, and a truly touching tribute to your life (and love) with your husband (may God rest his soul)!! I love the ocean-rhythmic imagery, but also your conveyed impressions of your togetherness. (It may not be of much comfort, but I do mean it very sincerely - congratulations on 63 years together! That must be a joy and is increasingly rare and precious these days.) Blessings and very best to you, Sara. :) Bartholomew

Bartholomew, we had our ups and downs as all couples, but we always tried to work together through our problems and settle them so that we both could be in a living situation where we could be comfortable. We made it where others do not. Our relationship with God, I believe, made a big difference. Thank you for the visit and uplifting review. I need all the blessings I can get. Sara K

This poem is not so much an illiad as it is an odyssey into, perhaps, a crypt better left to cryptkeepers.

Yes, maybe a crypt, Ken. I appreciate the visit and interesting review of my work. Going through grief is not easy. Sara K

Good start, but if it's for Greg's contest, the last two lines of each verse uses only seven syllables each (if I got that right)

Yes, Andrea, the last two lines are supposed to be 7 syllables, and I put it in a syllable counter and they are. I don't know if it will be good enough as far as the meter to enter it in the contest. I don't do meter. LOL.. Sara K
