Oath

even now
by insignificance
she fades

toward some
internal images
oscillation

whose
infrequent wave

carries less and less
the receding form

the touching smile
unchanged

so sad
she fails

yet finally I know

when she is equal
to all in light
and shade

that her beauty
i might grasp or
brush away

then this breaths
right to rise
should come

that day

and
of these
reaches

will my sanity
be made

To live then

to hope
to live

till cruel

this iron master
love
it may

by star
or tidal shadow
break

or sway

I think this poem is as bad as some of Edgar Poe's and for the same reason. I won't say because some people might actually like it. ( I loved "Annabel Lee" :-) ) William Carlos would probably flush it. - R.W.
