Notes About The Poem

O, Mercy Me-

It was a scandal, don't you know,
when she rose up and stood to show
how loose and uncaged she could be,
O, mercy me, what do we see?

She fled to a faraway land,
lived above the simple white sand,
wild, windy and finally free,
O, mercy me, what will we see?

Hunted by her father's henchmen,
She would never be clear again,
God in heaven please hear my plea!
O, mercy me, what do we see?

She promised to never go back,
she followed the lonely dirt tract
to the edge of the stormy sea,
O, mercy me, what will we see?
