Now That You're Free
We could have been friends
but you chose to hate
The damage is done
and now it's too late
I can forgive
but I cannot forget
how you made me feel
such fear and regret
How could you believe
those lies you were told?
You gave me no chance
Your blood is so cold
You doubted my word
You painted me black
and launched from afar
a vicious attack
Your bandwagon ride
provides all the tools
to spread your destruction
with liars and fools
You don't even know me
and yet you conclude
that I am a monster
a madman unglued
This land is awash
with hatred and fear
foundations are shaky
our future unclear
And all this insanity
you helped to spread
are manifestations
of what's in your head
To reason you're blinded
To truth you're opposed
and no light can enter
a mind that is closed
You project onto others
from deep down inside
the ugliness in you
that you try to hide
Your actions, more flighty
than a great many birds,
make lies of your lofty
and high-minded words
You're quick to condemn
and fast to accuse
all the poor people
you carelessly use
to advance your agenda
with myopic sight
completely convinced
that you're in the right
And all of the while
you're failing to see
that you are the cause
of your own misery
And if you CAN see it
your pride is too great
to surrender your tantrum
of anger and hate
And so, in the end
when you look around
at all of the carnage
and blood on the ground
Take comfort in thinking
that your cause was just
though your only motives
were power and lust
How will you survive
in a world all your own
with no one to hate
so empty, alone?
No one to accuse
not one you can see
Just what is your purpose
now that you're free?
