Now Go Away

Sorry but Dustin's not here today
He left in search of a better way
He took nothing and he left the same
No friends no wife no reason to stay
No riches no wealth no glory or fame
Not even a child to bare his name
Nothing but misery heartache and pain
Now ain't that a crying shame
He had nothing to lose or nothing to gain
There was no love for him to claim
No one was there to brighten his day
No color to see but only gray
His feelings and fears he left on display
Not knowing quite what to say
Taking his knowledge to the grave
All alone and to his dismay
His beautiful mind faded away
He just wanted someone to play
Someone to show him a better way
For this I'm truly sorry to say
But Dustin's not here today

This poem haunts me. So well written and articulated. I feel like we all know of someone like this. You describe it so well and vividly. Congrats on 8th place in my contest out of 75 entries!
