Now and Then

Now And Then My heart still thinks about you – Now and Then -- My arms still want to hold you – Now and Then – And, even though I know you’re gone, Your mem’ry just keeps hanging on And I still think about you – Now and Then. My friends all ask about you – Now and Then. I tell them I still see you – Now and Then. Though you have someone to take my place, When I close my eyes I see your face – And your mem’ries, they still haunt me – Now and Then. My heart keeps on rememb’ring How much I loved you so – And though I know it’s over – My heart just won’t let go. And, when I think about you – Now and Then. I always see a love that should have been. My life will never be the same ‘Cause I’m always haunted by your name – Each time I think about you – Now and Then. Yes, I still think about you, Now and Then.

Being haunted by both good and bad memories is not always such a bad thing! Now and then, we should remember and reminisce about what we wish we had. It helps us to learn from our mistakes and make better decisions in the future. Great work on this poem, it flows nicely!

oh man, you have to actually live in the city to get some kind of recognition Keep trying, this is so good. Hmm, my eyes are closing as I write this. I am helpless to stay up late any longer Too bad. I have many comments to return.

Yes, you have to pay your dues to succeed in life. I'm lucky I never had to rely on my writing to make a living. there are several of my songs in my portfolio.... some I wrote myself and some are lyrics that others wrote music to. It's been fun..... Love ya, sweetheart... Jake

this should have been entered in the lyrics contest. It's really good. I read a comment you made to someone down here So you have written many lyrics? Did you ever publish any? I hope so.

Yes, I have written both lyrics and music for many songs. None have ever been released on records or other media. I haven't really promoted them. Nashville is a tough town and you generally have to move there and pay your dues..... I have works published in anthologies that's about the extent of it...Jake

A true & intense roller coaster of emotions. The "Now & Then" repetition is classy & supplemental to the entire message here. Excellent!

Thanks Cecilia, I wrote this with no one in particular in mind...It's just a Saturday Night, Beer drinking, belly rubbin' Knights of Columbus dance hall kind of a song. Contemporary Country artists don't sing this way. More the Hank Williams era.... Jake
