Notre Dame Cathedral

Nortre Dame Cathedral,
ancient and regal
devoured by smoke and flame
history lost, stones crumble
who is to blame?

water and flame fight
deep into the April night
Parisians in the streets
watch the lady's defeat
mournful songs fill the smokey air

in the morning, hearts in mourning
will the Grand Dame of Paris still be there?

Good job on this project and good luck in the contest. There are so many ways to view this tragedy, different perspectives but you have nailed the spirit of it. Have a great day.

Here is where I really do want to begin; Spirit and memories will remain within; Great goal; Bells toll; History will have to start over again.

Thank you James for commenting on my poem. Thankfully, the fire was not as bad as it appeared - the walls are still standing and that is a great start for reconstruction.
