Nothing's All I Got
She wouldn’t let me in
So, I stand on the porch
With all the other men
Still carrying a torch
I thought I had a chance
I thought I had a shot
I thought I’d get a dance
But nothing’s all I got
She had no open door
She always kept it locked
So, like all those before
I stand out here and knock
I tried to chase her down
But she would not be caught
She was a treasure found
But nothing’s all I got
I couldn’t wait her out
No matter how I fought
And I could scream and shout
But nothing’s all I got
I tried to ring her bell
She left me here to wait
All caught up in her spell
I fear it’s just my fate
I tried to play her game
She tied me in a knot
I tried to feed the flame
But nothing’s all I got.
I couldn’t wait her out
No matter how I fought
And I could scream and shout
But nothing’s all I got
