Tribute and credit to Ben Ferencz (American lawyer) who at 27 years old headed and pled the Nuremberg trial against numerous Nazi war criminals in the murders of approximately one million people additional to Holocaust victims. The phrase, "nothing new ever happened before" comes from an interview of Ferencz at age 99 recalling his trial - his life dedicated to international justice and advocacy against war.

Author's Note: To the biblical phrase,"nothing new under the sun": some things are new.

What's new under the sun? Lots is new but some say "none". Skeptics claim all's been done; the simple truth not begun... a baby's first cry is one! Lots we've never seen before, every day there's more and more. Gay marriage or organ transplants, fuel from trash or talking plants. Prospects of viewing a black hole, the first to see a human soul! Muse about a song not yet written, sweet glances before you're smitten. Stories that make your heart to soar, human hope springs forth galore! Thinkers have unending hopes for thought. Are we the sum of all we're taught? Of this, I'm assured so - even more. Nothing new ever happened before! Written 7/2/2019 Julia Ward Best Rhyme of July 2019 Contest

---only combinations and recombinations thereof... It's either Ecclesiastes or Shakespeare, (or both). I can never remember. Enjoyed your musings, Greg

It was Ecclesiastes, thanks Gershon. Funny how we often take these statements as absolutes, when they are not. So nice of you to visit and comment.
