Nothing Lasts Forever

Sweetheart, view eternity by gazing
     love's forever in my eyes.
Visibles fade in forever's phrasing,
     though surely time enjoys encasing
          love's power of joy invisible,
               plus love's color brightly invincible.
You fear love is temporary,
     and, yes, we are ordinary,
        but surely our love's selflessness
               well enhances forever's own endlessness.

wow, Caycay, well done in Brian's contest. I am going through a drought with him these days!! Congrats for your win. Looks like you posted this sweet poem and won a contest with it back in January. I am always looking to my oldies with Brian. I never have a clue which one will suit him!

Oh, yes, I saw this one already and now it is a winner because we ALL are winners. Congratulations, dear. I now have a wee bit of time to exercise and then hubbie will be home. At least I do not have to prepare dinner. It's last night's leftover spagetti and meatballs!!

WOW, Caycay, you did an incredible job with this one. It is so difficult to make sensible phrases out of this type of challenge and you managed it by also giving a beautiful message of love's everlasting power! I got few comments this day so as soon as I finish here, I'm getting right over to your juicy letter!!!

Very lovely little piece of poetry, CayCay...uplifting and steadfast; reminds me very much of the sentiment expressed in Philip Larkin's incredible poem "An Arundel Tomb" . "Our almost-instinct almost true - what will survive of us is love". Your poem was a joy to read, CayCay! My very best regards. :) john

Now that is a personalized, completely NONgeneric response that I am delighted to have. I must look up Philip Larkin, you have peaked my desire to know about him. Thank you for your presence on my poem, and on Soup. All the best ... CayCay

How ironic I was listening to November rain whilst reading this and the line: Nothing lasts forever, not even the november rain.....

Great entry for the contest, our use of five words is brilliant.... is love not temporary? As nothing lasts forever, right?
