Nothing Clever

I won't be saying anything new.
No need for you to look for a clue.
I'm just still looking for forever.
And someone who can live with nothing clever.

Days roll by, one after another.
Empty and lonely, looking for a lover.
Someday gets closer, but's growing dimmer.
Hope? Lately, theres not even a glimmer.

Some people turn on and never turn off.
They end up all strung out with a nasty cough.
I've rode the rail that goes nowhere.
Came back to see whats left, but I just stare.

I drink more than I should sometimes.
Get to feeling good and everything rhymes.
Wake up to look myself in the mirror.
Ask the man, where do I go from here?

Repitition, De jevu, goin over, it's all the same.
You play so well, but it's not a game.
You tell yourself things will be alright.
Foolish pride wins again, it's such a shame.

I am sure I have seen all your poetry but this is a goodie here to see again! Wanted to thank you for always taking the time to check out new stuff of mine. I hope you know it's all mostly fantasy. For example there may have been a gorgeous man with beautiful lies, but I greatly exaggerated anything that ever happened between us! It never went past the kissing stage, is what I mean. hahaha!!

Truth spoken in these wise lines.... Also, if I drank, which I don;t, I might be able to write better rhymes? Really? Interesting idea. Gwendolen
