Nothing Changes
Nothing changes
I want to be different
The young they all cry
Not follow the rules
Of those who’ve passed by
Stand-up be counted
Live life that’s free
I want to be different
I want to be me
I’m looking for changes
To the way life is led
Not following guidelines
That do in my head
My opinion should matter
My voice should be heard
But these are just echoes
Of yesterday’s words
I want to be different
The old ones did say
Not following blindly
But find a new way
Mistakes from the past
Is a road not for me
This is my life
And I’ll set myself free
Yesterday’s gone
A change now has come
The old ones all shouted
While they were still young
They thought they were different
With this future they saw
But soon found their speeches
Had been heard before
