Not Your Fault
It's not your fault he hurt you
that he made you feel so small
A man should be a woman's strength
And help her stand up tall
It's not your fault he scared you
and left bruises on your skin
or told you not to speak that way
while standing up to him
It's not your fault he didn't know
the way you should be treated
Or made you feel ashamed
So that you would keep it secret
It's not your fault when he said he'd
Change you would believe it
Because you're kind at heart
the bad sometimes
you couldn't see it
It's not your fault you loved him
Or even that you cared
Or that you might feel lonely
to think of him not there
It's not your fault
that he used you
Only for his gain
Or that he abused you
And caused you loads of pain
It's not your fault he pushed you
said things to make you cry
It's not your fault that he refused
When you tried to say goodbye
It's not your fault
that to feel safe you had to lie
Just remember that it's not a fault
to be too sweet inside
