Not the Girl For Me

She’s a red-head, fiery as cliché,
as passionate about work as play,
she’s not afraid to be feminine,
and show softness that lies within.
Her eyes are a lightish, pastel green,
she can play the ****, or play the queen,
studied she is at magic tricks,
and always craves Eggs Benedict.
Always smiles when you want more,
appreciates fine hardwood floors,
still gets excited when things are free,
and yet, this girl is not for me.

That sounds crazy, quite absurd…
for a looker like her, to date this nerd,
I should be counting this blessing,
not feeling like something is missing.
But now a whole year’s time is gone
and still I’m feeling like it’s wrong,
I should declare that she’s ‘the one,’
my precious gem, my diamond,
yhe one whole haunts a waking dream,
who understands me, way down deep,
but I know that it can never be,
sadly, this girl is not for me.

It makes no sense to my mind,
how could I throw back such a find?
Reject a girl who smiles and laughs
at my jokes, even when they’re bad.
Love really UNSUPPORTED CODE is UNSUPPORTED CODE the cruelest thing,
to feel little when the soul UNSUPPORTED CODE should UNSUPPORTED CODE sing,
putting me here in this tight spot
since I know she feels what I do not.
But dragging out a lie won’t work,
she’ll rage, she’ll cry, call me a jerk,
one day she’ll find someone and be happy,
but sadly, that man can’t be me.
