Not the End
Sitting here alone
wind caressing my hair
staring at the sky
I look without a care
but if you come closer
then you will see
clear in my eyes
a problem bothering me
a question twirling
round and round in my head
wondering if
this is all that it is
going through the motions
of everyday life
sweating and working
through sadness and strife
when death claims me
all will be lost
all the problems I conquered
all the choices I'd tossed
will my living be for nothing at all?
but then I remember
my family and friends
and I knew then that death
could not be the end
