Not Ready

Beaches are open and golf courses, too. Neighbors are meeting for barbecue. Barbers are snipping like they used to do But I’m quarantining at home. Nanas and grandpas are visiting kin. Sports venues say they’re prepared to begin. Sunbathers slather their pale indoor skin While within my apartment I roam. Restaurants keep tables a distance apart. Museums let patrons with masks look at art. So many are ready for life to restart As I sit here, inside, with my poem.

My daughter is an epidemiologist and if she says "stay sheltered in" I stay sheltered in. She is convinced this is not going to be over for a long time and will have more than one wave. Stay safe my friend. Stay safe. We miss people sure, but not as much as they would miss us if we were gone. Nicely penned as usual.

Our newspaper this morning reported the majority polled are not willing to risk infecting their loved ones by going to the malls or church, which is why, once again, there have been zero infections reported in the Hawaiian islands! Continue playing it safe as your husband needs you! And we always look forward to a new poem from you! Aloha! Rico

Excellent pen Ilene you are a wise lady indeed! From 1st June have the same thing here but many hairdressers/barbers and even dentists are refusing too open as ppe is too difficult, we too stay at and around the home most of the time, we are not socailising, the second wave will hit and we dont want to be swept up by it. thinking of you and hubby:-) hugs Jan xx

You're being safe and cautious - I commend you. Stay away from that 2nd wave they warn us about. I love your aaab cccb dddb rhyme scheme, I shall have to try that sometime. Hugs (funny, your first word is 'beaches' and my Captcha code is 'SEA'!)

A poem of how it is, this should be kept, ilene, for history which tells it as it was. Apart from all of that, the poetry rhyme and rhythm are great..

Love this, Ilene, but I'm with Gershon about adherence to rules. So far our town has said nothing about the beaches opening – traditionally it's Memorial Day. It doesn't bother me since I'm not a beach person. Yes, dear lady, when it comes to Trump I can't hold back giving him his medicine like he gives it to others. Fair is fair. Thanks for the stop by./Maurice

I'm with you 100%, Ilene. And though I don't want to deny others the right to enjoy the outdoors, I sure wish they'd adhere strictly to the guidelines. All we don't need is another virus surge... Oy! :) gw
