Notes About The Poem

Not My Will, But Thine Be Done

We like sheep have gone astray
from the path the Lord has willed -
each has turned to his own way
and for such, Christ's blood was spilled.

Asking, "Father fashion me
in the image of thy Son”;
may my sole petition be,
"not my will, but thine be done".

Aditi, I am humbled you think of my words as wise. I am a simple man who has learned from making many mistakes, as well as observing the counsel of others far more wise than myself. Thank you for the lovely comment and congrats ~ John

KUDO,s John. Sorry I am a day late. Love the clarity and Christianity in the verse. Man has yet to acknowledge is is we, who have gone astray. Panagiota Xi

Panagiota, I am grateful for your generous words, regardless of when they are written. There is a saying that the three most important traits of a Christian are humility, humility, and humility. To me, the image of a sheep going astray is a good reminder of that. Thanks for the visit, my friend! Hugs ~ John

Sheep we are, and have gone astray. I am thankful that He is our Shepherd. Those that have wandered away, He is always near. He wants all to be saved. Your thoughts are beautiful and uplifting. I always say, Your will, not mine. Congratulations John, on Poem of the Day. Many wonderful blessings to you. Hugs, Brandy
