Not Just For Men
NOT JUST FOR MEN
I was there to do a job
I had trained for years to do
Standing on the front line
I could only think of you
Bullets flying round my head
Mortars landing near
My world was full of noises
Your voice all I could hear
Asking me to keep safe
While serving miles from home
With all my men around me
Still feeling all alone
A soldier takes a hit
He is lying on the ground
Without a second thought from me
His body I surround
Keeping him from further hurt
Is foremost in my mind
I drag him to his safety
To the danger I am blind
This is what I live for
Trained for all my life
To be a combat soldier
And secondly your WIFE.
