Not If I See You First

NOT IF I SEE YOU FIRST

I’ll be seeing you, maybe soon
Now that we both have woken
If you are still alive and kicking
Hearing that leader tape flicking
You’ll remember the technology
From when we studied an –ology
Since then, we have not spoken
A dish ran away with my spoon

How’s life after all these years
Getting along with so-so health
I couldn’t bring myself to phone
Hoping this letter finds you alone
She’d never last too long with you
And almost anyone else would do
You stole my girlfriend with stealth
It’s been a while since I shed tears

So, no chance of ever meeting
Fine, but I don’t bear a grudge
Just never think of calling again
I have ways of causing you pain
But Hey, there’s no hatred here
Yet be aware if I should appear
On a busy street, just a nudge
Don’t mistake that for a greeting

You may feel as if you’re cursed
Bitter feelings remaining so strong
What may have been a simple slip
Is now a constant miserable drip
What a bad thing to do as a friend
Yet retribution comes in the end
You may see me before too long
But trust me, not if I see you first
