Not Forgotten

You never took a single breath
You're feet never touched the ground
I never got to hear your voice
Or utter a single sound
And yet my heart is filled with love
Amidst the hurt and pain
Because I choose to hear your voice
In the sound of the falling rain
You were not meant to be here
I will never understand why
I know that you'll be looking down
From your home up in the sky
Though my arms barely held you
I felt the softness of your skin
And now I choose to believe
You hid a hug within the wind
The world just keeps on spinning
The world you never got to see
Though your time was swift and brief
Your impact was left on me
Now every time I go outside
And feel a gentle gust
I will know deep in my heart
That you are here with us.
