Not Enough Time To Love
***
There was not enough time to love you;
there never could have been enough,
so I sought your presence in others
and hoped I would not lose myself.
There were not enough memories to keep you;
I needed you here by my side,
so I dreamed up anew loving moments with you
and clung to each one with my life.
I never had time to show you
how much and how deeply I cared.
Did you know I truly adored you
and my life I’d gladly have spared
If I thought that I could have saved you
from the demons that took you away?
I’d have shaken, defeated them; told you
that in losing you, I’d lose my way.
There is so much love all around us;
it’s just finding the one that fits best.
We can shine when true love surrounds us
and find comfort along this great quest.
