Not Allowed

Motorbikes are not allowed Out here where people stroll. Smoking’s not permitted, either; Fresh air is the goal. Blasting music’s also banned So peace can be enjoyed, Which is why, right here and now, I’m feeling so annoyed. A motorcycle zipped on past And stopped one bench away. Two guys got off and took a seat; There’s nothing I can say. Their music’s loud, their reefer stinks; They’re coughing up a storm. Behavior such as this is not, Around here, quite the norm. Yet lately I’ve been witness to Obnoxiousness galore And it appears that lawlessness Will happen more and more. What’s not allowed is just a phrase; It doesn’t mean a thing, For nowadays it seems to me Offensiveness is king.

It is a shame, isn't it? Too bad NYC abandoned its 'broken windows' theory of policing... just as it's too bad that Chicago ever stopped breaking up gang meetings on street corners due to 'Freedom of Assembly' -- some hirsute judge's ludicrous interpretation of the First Amendment to include guys dealing drugs in broad daylight. I wonder how that equates with 'petitioning the government,' which is what freedom of assembly was supposed to be all about. Oh well, welcome to 'America Unhinged!'

Good observation, Ilene. Or "whatever traffic will allow". Fortunately, I live in a very quiet neighborhood. I hope you gave those "guys" a good piece of your mind.

Only the other week I challenged a lady who was vaping in our social club - she had been trying to do it covertly but clouds of smelly smoke gave her away lol - I reminded her smoking isn't allowed in the club (signs on the wall are always conveniently being removed )she begged me not to tell anyone - trying to act all innocently - a man sitting near her came over to me and said 'well done' she does it all the time but nobody says anything to her - you were so brave to stand up to her!

I can relate to you, Ilene; may I be 'allowed' to express my frustration when such things happen! ~ Regards // paul
