Not All Is Lost
When you look in my eyes
They're empty and cold.
Something lacking, deep inside,
Remnants of no soul.
Broken dreams, shattered memories,
Live inside these eyes.
All the unkept promises and
Constant array of lies.
I hope one day you
Will get to see.
Joy and warmth with-in them,
Today just let me be.
The pain was too intense,
I can only cry.
Tormented soul, still
I have to try.
I held on way
Too long and too tight.
Refused to let go even
when it didn't feel right.
More pain and grief,
My heart can only ache.
I gave her my soul,
The love a grave mistake.
I thought holding on,
It was the right thing to do.
I held on for so long, until there
There was nothing left to hold on to.
I let go of the thing
I held so dear.
I sucked it up,
I walked through my fear.
Some people are not
Meant to stay long.
The teachers of the lesson,
This keeps you moving on.
The experience was
worth the cost.
A lesson learned,
not all is lost.
