Not a Moment Too Soon
I met her on a foreign shore, two souls adrift it seemed
She could see it in my eyes, a common search we felt
I was alone and so was she and I was bound for war
To slay a foe I did not know, but one she knew too well
We talked of the future and the past and ignored the war
For it would come and it would go who knew what it would leave
Then we held each other tight for my time at war had come
And that day on a foreign shore we prayed we'd not be grieved
I look back at a time that came not a moment too soon
For I found love on a foreign shore, and listened to the Loon
In the midst of death and chaos we found a simple peace -
Now children are grown and that was not a moment too soon
