Non Binary

A person I am
Am I a he or a she?
That’s the ing question!
From gender, I feel free.

Don’t dare call me mister
Or refer to me as miss;
I don’t recognise any of it
Whatever you call me I dismiss.

I am neither there nor here
My life is bleak, forever austere.

Inspired by Helen MacDonald when I heard here story on Desert Island Disc on BBC Four
