Nocturnal Splendor

Twilight surrenders the sky when night takes hold, offering the throne to the moon and stars of gold. Luna appears in a sparkling silver gown that glows. She smiles on the world, graceful in a peaceful pose. How beautiful is the night to a stargazer like me, where threads of light resemble fine lace in filagree. Celestial ornaments sparkle across night's expanse. Captured in their spell, couples dream of romance. There's the scent of flora wafting in a gentle breeze and the sweet aroma of magnolia decorates the trees. Calmness prevails and earth seems to be less stressed at night when the moon shines over the mountain crest. I linger in the tranquility of tonight's heavenly embrace, enjoying the black velvet darkness of boundless space. I feel the need to thank God for such a wondrous gift, for it soothes my soul and gives hope a spiritual lift. When the night is silent, my memories have no bounds. If filled with bird trills, I hear nature's sweet sounds. The song of a nightingale is part of her vocal symphony. How beautiful is the night to me, audibly and visually. Incredulous sights and sounds fill me with pleasure when night falls and I feel His glory beyond measure. Often, I'm in awe while gazing at nocturnal splendors, grateful that I treasure what God so lovingly renders. November 16, 2022 ~ Beauty of Night Contest Sponsored by Sotto Poet

I am delighted by the quality of your quatrains, Jenna. As usual, you have written to the stars and beyond. I see this as placing first in Lasaad's contest, because I can't imagine anyone writing a better ode to the heavens. A FAVE. This should be a P.O.T.D.!

I know exactly how you feel, Jenna. Sometimes I feel positive I have a winner, then it doesn't even place. Oh well, we know our worth! (chuckling)

Staring into the expanse of our universe, safe and sound from here on earth, couples become one with nature, what’s it all about, does it even matter, for it feels good, I think Lasaad will love this stunning piece, I do, cheers David

It's quite a humbling experience for a lowly human to realize that we are just specks of dust upon the earth. Thanks so much for such insightful words, David. I'm so glad you think this one worthy of a placement.
