Nobody Loves Thelma Lou
In a secluded part of the old schoolyard,
She sits alone,and crying hard.
After all, what's a girl of six supposed to do
When she believes no one loves Thelma Lou?
Alone, next to the phone, on a Friday night;
Not a single boyfriend in sight.
A week til the prom, and she feels so blue.
It's so evident that nobody loves Thelma Lou!
A single light burns in the college dorm;
All the other girls are partying in the local town.
Four long years without one friend who is true.
She's now convinced no one will ever love Thelma Lou!
Drugs,and booze, have made living only a blur.
An occasional one-night-stand that means nothing to her.
She'll take her life! Oh yes! She's thought that through.
Who cares anyway? Since no one loves Thelma Lou.
Just as she prepares to commit the act,
Her eyes fall on a gospel tract.
Yeah, she'll take time to read it through.
What's five more minutes to an unloved Thelma Loou?
There she learned how Jesus died
To forgive her sin, and heal her hurt inside.
She prayed, and received eternal life anew.
She met Someone Who loves Thelma Lou!
