No Whining
Today with my doctors recommendation
There at a pharmacy I listened to in total frustration
They warned me of a multitude of the side effects
Which seemed distressing and not what one expects
Pain, fatigue, swelling, fever with just one injection
Wondering now with a temperature, is it an infection
So now in a few months I have to decide a virus shot
A shot that there are a number of folks who will boycott
But where I live folks did not get ill until now
The hospital has more beds for that virus than they usually allow
And thousands are dying while others ignore reality
The decisions before us are becoming a cruel finality
Companies in States lying to their employees now dying
I watch and read the news and see my country crying
And I am complaining about a little shot
Watching this country where so many seem to be bought
I know that this is not a normal feature of poetry
Its difficult to write scary not flowery
But I had to think about it — words are critical
And taking care of ourselves and others is vital
The pains from the little shot and fever are declining
So I will do what I can no sighing no whining
