No Two Families

No two families are alike So we can’t really know What happens in a household Underneath the parts that show. The habits, values and routines Which parents first control Aren’t visible to those outside, Though normalcy’s the goal. When children grow and leave the house And heed their inner voice, The power to reject or stick With customs is their choice. What I find most intriguing Is how those from one abode Can, as grown-ups, lead such different lives From those their folks bestowed.

I can relate to this gem of a poem, Ilene! I've shed just about every influence my mother dropped on me when growing up – religion, politics, certain friends of hers, and much else! Joined the Air Force at 18 and realized for the first time there were othee people on this planet and a multitude of places to see! Never regretted it. / Maurice

It just shows to go you, I guess. Once they've smelled the marijuana, you can't keep the 'lid' on 'em anymore. ~ 'Nickel-Bag'

You’re right, Ilene, I mean, I’m sure my neighbours don’t possess a single pair of pink fluffy handcuffs!… and if my stepdaughter does… I really don’t wish to know ;-) Nicely observed and rhymed as always.
