NO TIME FOR US

“There’ll be a time and place for us,”
She whispered, mimicking the song.
“We have our live before us
And three years isn’t long.”
I’d loved that girl forever,
The only one for me,
And we’d planned our life together,
After university.
We swapped love letters every week.
(There were no cell phones then)
But, by her third semester,
She’d discovered other men.
Then came that final letter,
The end of all my dreams.
In spite of all her promises,
There was no time it seems.
