No Sleep
There was a girl who couldn't sleep
Her eyes remained open,
Bound by their determination to stay
Her brain in overdrive
A pen in hand
When she started to write
She didn’t know that the words she spilt
would be dripping with angry tears
As she watched her hand move across the page
The words flowing from her pen
She realised that she was reading them as if for the first time
When she was finished
and could write no more
She stopped and read
read what was left there on the page
The words jumped out and surprised her
She had never before been afraid of what was inside.
