No Place
I walk aloof, gazing ahead
Watching the motions, unconsciously
As the breeze is willed to freeze
Hoping it will bestow an unease
That warmth will cease.
I let my mind unarchive
Memories that no longer recall their place
Teasing wonder with each blank space
A smile so sincere, looped
The joy behind it, unknown.
I begin my reach toward a pillar
The weight becomes too much
Your hand becomes a prisoner
As you become my every limb
Until dependency drowns your care.
I stop exhaling, tempting success
Born to a life of defeat
Allowing figments of victory to deceive
Escape paving its own path
With an alternate of repetition.
I let my speech be unfiltered
Desperate for help, openly pleading
Wishing another would come toward
Take responsibility for my every fall
So I can live, again.
