No Naps

If I let my eyes close for a second, Then, really, it isn’t a nap, But the problem, you see Is, in terms of degree, It’s quite easy to fall in a trap. For a second may turn to a minute And that minute can change to a few, So I try to resist With a slap on the wrist Or whatever wake-ups! I can do. You may wonder at all my resistance, Since a nap’s not a terrible thing, But my reasons go deep And, to me, proper sleep Is the type only nighttime can bring.

A person has to maintain his/her principles. Especially with regards to naps!

This is great. I find myself napping in accordance with what I eat. The difference between nap and sleep is the sound of snoring. This poem is flowing and actually quite relaxing g g..

At my age, I take an hour's nap just about every day with my dog at my side. It doesn't affect my night sleep at all. Occasionally my hour nap will stretch into several hours, then my regularly sleep pattern is affected. No matter. I'll stay up until 3 a.m. editing my poems. Go back to bed and rise at 8 a.m. and start another day. / Maurice

You caught me napping or I could have missed this gem lol. I can relate Ilene, hubby sets an alarm if we do have a sleep in the day - i sleep badly at night so the cat naps do help and i am trying to get to bed earlier to get a decent night ... in my dreams lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Dear Ilene, You have humorously captured the struggle of resisting the allure of daytime slumber. I loved your playful rhymes and witty imagery that touch anyone who has fought against the temptation to doze off during the day. Your reflection on the importance of proper nighttime sleep adds depth to the lighthearted tone, highlighting the value of restorative rest. Ilene, what a delightful reminder to prioritize sleep hygiene while navigating the daily battle against midday drowsiness. - Blessings, Daniel

- A nap can be tempting now and then... but, nothing like a good night's sleep (which I rarely have, I struggle with sleep) - Lovely poem, Ilene :) - hugs
