No More Fences

Now what do I do, I’ve got time on my hands
Maybe I’ll go somewhere and try and make a stand
No job to go to, don’t do that no more
Retirements great, counting cracks in the floor 
There’s no more fences, nothings holding me in

Everyone I know is still down at the plant
I wish I could miss them but somehow I can’t 
Waking up each day is like being born again
But without that baby smell and no religion
No more fences, nothings holding me

Worked hard all my life till it was time to go
And after all I’ve I done I got nothin’ to show
It’s funny how things turned out this way
With all my words, I’ve got nothing to say

I don’t own a house, I just pay the rent
And I can’t tell you where all my money went
I wanna go out and buy me some clothes
Get all dressed up, find some place to go 
There’s no more fences, nothings holding me

I thought we’d be together through thick and thin
But she up and left, I guess that was the end
Now I’ve got time on my hands and don’t know what to do
The whole world’s before me and I don’t know what to do
I got no more fences, don’t know what’s holding me in

Worked hard all my life till it was time to go
After everything I’ve I done I got nothin’ to show
It’s sad how things turned out this way
And I never asked her, why don’t you stay
