No More
His hand hits me and I go numb
A swollen lip, the outcome
Frozen in silence upon the ground
My courage cannot be found
I retreat into my mind
Leaving all else behind
Locking away parts of who I am
Keeping it safe from a madman
Black and blue color my cheek
The physical abuse is making me weak
Mentally, I am also stretched thin
My life threatened by a “has been”
No escape I am trapped
Over and over I am slapped
My eyes swollen from the tears
Pain I have endured for years
The day finally arrived
I got out, I survived
Locked away he did go
His existence no more than an echo
