No Middle Ground

It doesn't make sense that older folk should drive so slow. When the traffic light turns green that means you should GO! Yet at the same time the younger fella likes to rev his engine hardcore, not knowing he's still just a sprout, still unaware of what life's all about. The old man has only so much time left on this earth, you'd think he'd want to show the bull who's boss. While "big and cool" just wants to impress the ladies, throwing everything he owns into the wind not even caring what it costs.

This made me chuckle. I am a watcher, birds, people... and of course traffic, special appreciation for this; bringing me back years to seeing a big yellow hummer revving it at a red light thinking "way to go (...) I bet that cost you twenty bucks" ~mo

So true.. we all get frustrated by those elderly 'Sunday afternoon drivers'. At least they have learned the consequences to irresponsible driving. Accidents change lives !! Wisely written words.

Thanks Kim. I showed my friend this and he gave me a really interesting comment... "They say that youth is wasted on the young, but I suppose the same is true, that wisdom is wasted on the old!". You're absolutely right about accidents changing lives... ain't no "spilled milk" situation!

No Tim, it's not true wisdom is wasted on the old and I can't see you thinking that in fifty years time lol. Oi, I still do a ton when I get chance. Take care, Richard

Well glad you're still keeping up the spirit... in Idaho there was a lady that just did a base jump from Perrine Bridge... to celebrate her 102nd birthday, no joke!! Last year she zip-lined through Horshoe Bend while playing the harmonica... talk about not letting age get you down!

Funny, but I notice a LOT of old people are crazy drivers. I remember once someone cut us off and my mother would say, "Look at these crazy young people nowadays!" And when we caught up we saw it was an old man having the time of his life, Lol!! I liked this poem, sometimes the young don't treasure as much as the older does.

Haha... glad you enjoyed! People say youth is wasted on the young... but isn't the same true that wisdom is wasted on the old?
